Baptism
Baptisms are celebrated on the first Saturday of the month (pending approval). Arrangements must be made in advance and the family must be registered at St. Cornelius Catholic Church for a least (6) six months prior to the Baptism. Both the parents and godparents must attend one baptismal class. At least one of the parents must be active, practicing Catholic. The Godparents must be 18 years or older and must have received all the sacraments of initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist). If godparents are a couple living together, they must be married in the Catholic Church. A copy of the marriage certificate is needed for the godparents. The godparents should be a male and a female.
Holy Communion
The child must be registered and attend Religious Education Classes at St. Cornelius Catholic Church. It takes (2) two years of formation to prepare to receive the Sacrament.
Confirmation
The child must be registered and attend Religious Education Classes at St. Cornelius Catholic Church. There is only (1) one sponsor. The sponsor may not be the parent of the candidate. The sponsor must be active, practicing Catholic registered at a parish (a letter from their pastor is required for verification). The sponsor must also be fully initiated (made their First Holy Communion and was Confirmed) and at least 16 years old.
Anointing of the Sick
The Sacrament is available by appointment; please call the parish office to schedule an appointment, especially prior to surgery or when first entering hospice. Please note that this Sacrament is not just to be administered prior to death but may be administered to those who are seriously sick, the elderly and even before surgery. Holy Matrimony
At least (1) one person should be registered at Sacred Heart for at least (6) six months. The couple should contact the pastor at least (9) nine months in advance.
